Pers yang Profesional

TUGAS utama pers adalah menyajikan informasi yang benar dan akurat serta berbasis fakta kepada publik.

Ini bisa terpenuhi jika pers tidak malas untuk menggali informasi ke sumber fakta tersebut. Selain itu,  pers juga wajib menguji kebenaran sebuah fakta sebelum digunakan untuk merangkai karya jurnalistik.

Hal lainnya yang juga harus dilakukan ialah, sebuah fakta yang akan diolah menjadi sebuah berita harus mendapatkan klarifikasi dari pihak-pihak terkait. Tujuannya untuk memenuhi etika jurnalistik yang biasa dikenal dengan sebutan cover both side.

Hal-hal tersebut sudah menjadi syarat mutlak yang harus dipenuhi dalam sebuah karya jurnalistik.

Singkatnya, sebuah berita layak menjadi konsumsi publik jika hal-hal tersebut sudah dipenuhi. Sebaliknya, jika masih ada hal yang belum terpenuhi dalam pembuatan sebuah berita, maka belum dapat disebut sebagai sebuah karya jurnalistik dan belum layak disuguhkan sebagai sebuah berita kepada publik.

Itu lah cara kerja pers yang profesional. Sederhana cara kerjanya, namun membutuhkan kegigihan untuk mengolah fakta dan menembus narasumber.

Inilah yang membedakan kerja pers yang memproduksi karya jurnalistik  dengan berbagai informasi yang dibuat oleh individu atau kelompok yang disebarluaskan di media sosial.

Seperti diketahui, seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi, siapa pun kini bisa memproduksi sebuah informasi dan menyebarkan di media sosial, seperti di Facebook, Instagram, Twitter dan lain sebagainya.

Dalam menghadapi berbagai informasi yang tersebar di media sosial, masyarakat perlu bijaksana. Jangan cepat mempercayai sebuah informasi tanpa mengujinya terlebih dahulu.

Bagaimana cara mengujinya? Masyarakat dapat memulai dari subjek atau penulis informasi tersebut. Apakah penulis merupakan sosok yang sudah biasa menulis karya jurnalistik atau sebaliknya?

Kemudian dari gaya dan cara penulisannya. Sebuah karya jurnalistik selalu memakai gaya bahasa yang menjunjung tinggi norma-norma.

Oleh karena itu, karya jurnalistik tidak pernah memakai kata-kata yang kasar,  berbau pornografi, dan yang merendahkan martabat.

Barulah teliti tingkat keakuratan informasi tersebut. Apakah informasi itu didapat dari sumber-sumber yang bisa dipercaya atau sebaliknya?

Presiden Joko Widodo saat menghadiri acara Hari Pers Nasional di Banjarbaru, Kalimantan Selatan pada Sabtu (8/2), mengungkapkan salah satu tugas media adalah melawan penyakit information disorder atau kekacauan informasi.

Memang, saat ini salah satu musuh utama bangsa kita adalah berita-berita hoaks. Untuk melawan berita-berita hoaks, diperlukan pers yang sehat dan profesional.

Ayo segenap insan pers berkarya memproduksi berita yang benar dan akurat untuk melawan hoaks. Jadilah pers yang profesional dan independen.
