PENINGKATAN status Gunung Semeru dari level II atau ‘waspada’ menjadi level III atau ‘siaga’ perlu menjadi perhatian, mengingat awan panas guguran (APG) masih berpotensi terjadi.
Kepala Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (PVMBG) Andiani mengatakan peningkatan status Gunung Semeru itu diikuti dengan perluasan area cakupan terdampak material vulkanik di wilayah tenggara yang meluas ke sisi barat dan timur dari jalur aliran lava utama di Besuk Kobokan. Oleh sebab itu, PVMBG meminta agar seluruh aktivitas di sepanjang jalur itu agar dihentikan dan dikosongkan sejauh 13 kilometer dari puncak.
“Masih ada potensi terjadinya APG dan gempa-gempa di permukaan. Kami meminta agar seluruh aktivitas masyarakat di sisi tenggara hingga Besuk Kobokan ditiadakan untuk sementara waktu,” ujar Andiani dalam media daring, Jumat (17/12).
Dilansir dari situs Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB), Senin (20/12), Andiani menambahkan, untuk upaya percepatan penanganan bencana APG Gunung Semeru, seperti pembersihan material vulkanik, pembukaan jalan, serta evakuasi dan pemulihan sarana prasarana oleh seluruh stakeholder gabungan, masih memungkinkan untuk dilakukan. Namun, seluruh tim yang bertugas harus selalu berkoordinasi dengan Pos Pengamatan Gunung Api (PGA) Gunung Semeru.
“Rescue terbatas masih dimungkinkan, tapi tetap harus berkoordinasi dengan pos pantau. Upaya-upaya pemulihan lainnya masih memungkinkan, tapi terbatas dan harus berkoordinasi dengan Pos Pengamatan Gunung Api,” tutup Andiani.
Lebih lanjut, Andiani juga meminta kepada seluruh masyarakat di sekitar Gunung Semeru agar selalu memperbarui informasi terkait dengan perkembangan dan kenaikan level Gunung Semeru melalui PVMBG, Pos Pengamatan Gunung Api (PGA) Gunung Semeru, BNPB, BPBD setempat, dan instansi terkait lainnya.
Ia berharap agar masyarakat tidak terpancing dengan isu dan kabar yang tidak benar yang disebarkan pihak tidak bertanggung jawab. (RLS/J1)
