BEA Cukai Makassar melakukan penindakan rokok ilegal dan berhasil menegah 1.099.800 batang rokok ilegal.
Kepala Kantor Bea Cukai Makassar Andhi Pramono menjelaskan bahwa pihaknya berkomitmen untuk terus memberikan perlindungan kepada masyarakat, khususnya dari bahaya konsumsi rokok ilegal.
“Kami selalu berupaya mencegah peredaran barang-barang kena cukai ilegal, seperti rokok yang tidak dilekati pita cukai, berpita cukai palsu, bekas, atau salah peruntukan. Karena kami yakin, peredaran rokok ilegal ini membawa dampak buruk bagi masyarakat dan bangsa,” jelas Andhi dalam rilisnya, Kamis (24/3).
Ia pun memerinci dampak buruk tersebut, yaitu meningkatkan keterjangkauan masyarakat mengonsumsi rokok karena harga rokok ilegal lebih murah, meningkatkan konsumsi rokok, meningkatkan tingkat kematian atau kesakitan akibat konsumsi rokok yang bertambah, dan mengurangi penerimaan negara.
“Jadi, selain melindungi masyarakat, penindakan rokok ilegal yang Bea Cukai lakukan juga untuk mengamankan penerimaan negara,” ujarnya. (RLS/J1)
